Edna Rano Mapugay's Obituary
Edna T. Rano-Mapugay, 56, was born in Manila, Philippines on January 7, 1961. She had been battling cancer since 2012 and sadly, but peacefully, went on to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2017. Her courageous and inspiring battle with cancer ended with her smiling in the comfort of God’s arms and surrounded by her family. She immigrated to Long Island City, NY in 1985. In 1989, she married Orlando A. Mapugay. Edna is survived by her husband, Orlando, her son, Arthur Mapugay, and her daughter, Andrea Mapugay.
Words cannot describe what a beautiful person Edna was and how tremendously she will be missed. Her constant outpouring of love and compassion for others, especially her family and friends is felt throughout the world. There was never a day where she could not brighten someone’s day. She was always there for everyone and anyone who needed her. She was a beacon of hope and happiness for all that had met her. She touched the lives of many and she was so humble and caring. Not a day will go by that she will not be missed, but not a day will go by that her everlasting love will not be felt. There is comfort knowing that we are all surrounded by the ones she loved.
Edna’s devotion to her family was indescribable. As a nurse, she worked long and hard hours. She made sacrifices for her family every single day without a second thought. She provided for her family and she always did it with the kindest smile on her face. She was a genuinely amazing person. She was the perfect complement to her husband, Orlando Mapugay. She was a wholehearted and soft-spoken woman. There will never be a love like theirs. Edna and Orlando truly shared a perfect love and life together and their family is product of their commitment to each other. Edna was the best mother a son and daughter could ever ask for. To be continuously loved and encouraged by her was what molded her children to be the upstanding people they are today.
Edna’s infectious smile, her distinctive laugh, and sweet and gentle eyes always brought peace and comfort to all that met her. Whether it was at a party, a meeting, in the store, or at church, Edna continuously inspired people just by being around her. Edna was a devout Roman Catholic and lived in the praises of our Lord Jesus Christ all the way until her passing. Those that she left behind can rest easy knowing that there will be no more suffering or pain and that she can finally be at home. Her unwavering faith in God allowed for the formation of an even stronger and special connection to her family. Her trust in God instilled trust with all those around her. She was an instrument of faith and always encouraged others, especially her family, to believe and to have faith. Edna turned any situation in to a positive and bright one for all.
Edna lived an amazing and fulfilling life; she truly was a special woman. She was an angel who walked amongst us and is now an angel among the heavens and stars. Although it is painful to see someone so loved leave this world, all can take solemn comfort knowing that she looks down upon us with the same intensity of love and care. Her life is the epitome of strength, love, compassion, kindness, and inspiration. We love you so much. Fair winds and following seas. Until we meet again, mahal na mahal kita
