Donald Wayne Minton 's Obituary
Donald "Wayne" Minton of Land O Lakes, Florida went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday , the Lord's day, March 3, 2019.
He was born on June 25, 1944 in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Lester and Creola (Wilder) Minton.
Wayne was a business owner in Water Purification for the latter years of his life. He loved being at the beach, golfing, and visiting Blue Ridge, Georgia, with family and friends. His passion was his ministry at Idlewild Baptist Church, working with the student ministry and young married couples. His life experiences glorified God's ability to take a broken, sinful man and change him completely. That enabled him to share a powerful testimony that led many to seek the cross. He was a jokester that loved life and his Lord totally. His generosity was unending, as he was always putting other's needs first. Wayne was diagnosed with brain cancer and battled it with exceeding dignity and grace for four years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 36 years, Leanne (McFarling); five children, David (Tammy), Mark, Elizabeth (David Michael), Jonathan (Ashlee) and Jeremiah; many grand children and great-grandchildren; and sister Faye (Minton) Miller.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Florida. Visitation with the family will start at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to Moffitt Cancer Center or Idlewild Student Ministry Camp Scholarship Fund.
