Dolores Schaefer's Obituary
Dolores Schaefer, of New Port Richey Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 due to complications from pneumonia and other health related issues after living a life through which she always put others before herself.
Dee, as she affectionately liked to be called, was married twice, both times to husbands that loved her as deeply as she deserved to be loved until they passed on to the heavens above. Her 1st husband was Charles W. Arens, with whom she survived the throngs of the brutally cold and harsh Illinois winters. Her 2nd husband was William Schaefer, with whom she survived the throngs of the brutally hot and humid Florida summers.
Dee was a fun, energetic ball of energy who could not be tied down…she was always traveling (though always asleep in the car) and when not doing that she was gambling at penny poker, strategizing while playing Mexican train, and playing Bingo from one end of New Port Richey to the other, the only thing she sat down for was her soap operas and Hallmark channel movies. She also was a great entertainer and cook…famous for her German potato salad and brandy infused sweet potatoes…as well as the host of numerous famous super bowl parties. But living in Florida could not keep her taste buds from savoring the taste of her Illinois favorites…Chicago tamales, White Castles, and most of all Portillos Roast Beef.
She is survived by her son Charles J. Arens, her 2 Grandchildren Katie and Chucky, and a host of nieces, nephews, and very dear and close friends whom she loved and adored with every part of her living soul. Dee was a beautifully loving person who will be surely missed for all the years to come.
Her memorial service will be held on February 5, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Thomas Aquinas, 8320 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey, Fl. followed by her internment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, Fl.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Charities of Pasco County Florida.
