Dilipbhai Bhailalbhai Patel, a cherished individual whose life began on May 10th, 1947, in
Bhavnagar, India, and peacefully concluded on March 31st, 2024, in Land O’Lakes, Florida. He
is survived by his devoted wife, Ila Patel, his son, Amar Patel, and his daughter-in-law, Raeleigh
Patel. Dilipbhai was the adored baby brother to Late Rameshbhai, Late Sureshbhai,
Mrudulaben, and Ushaben. Dilipbhai leaves behind the legacy of a closely-knit family and is
fondly remembered by siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and an endless list of friends.
Dilipbhai's life was characterized by his joyful spirit, his refusal to speak ill of others, and his
eagerness to lend a helping hand to those in need. An enthusiastic sportsman, he proudly
represented the Saurashtra cricket team in the Ranji Trophy. Dilipbhai was an avid
photographer and videographer. He loved taking photos and videos of his loved ones, especially
his wife Ila and later his son Amar. He was also a foodie, recording countless recipes from
cooking shows (that his wife ended up cooking). Dilipbhai pursued his passion for knowledge,
earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Sir P.P. Institute of Science,
Bhavnagar.
In 1979, Dilipbhai married his beloved wife Ila, and together they embarked on a journey to the
United States of America. Despite coming from a well-off family, Dilipbhai was determined to
carve his own path. He settled in New Jersey, where he began working tirelessly from the
moment he arrived. After holding various positions, he found success at Westinghouse, where
he applied his talents in designing escalators for commercial buildings, including high rises.
Later, Dilipbhai relocated to Florida, where he established and operated a thriving business in
Hudson for 33 years before embracing retirement in 2021.
Dilipbhai's impact extended far beyond his professional achievements. He touched the lives of
many immigrants, offering guidance and support as they navigated their new lives in America.
Dilipbhai's kindness knew no bounds; he opened his heart and home to provide food and
shelter to those in need, embodying the true spirit of generosity. He recognized the importance
of mobility in a new country by teaching numerous individuals the essential skill of driving,
empowering them with independence and freedom. This demonstrated his compassionate
nature and leaving an enduring legacy of generosity and patience.
Within the Balar and Sojitra families, Dilipbhai held a revered position. His unwavering
commitment to family bonds and his remarkable personality earned him respect and admiration
from all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, we
cherish the memory of Dilipbhai Bhailalbhai Patel for his resilient spirit, pioneering journey, and
the boundless love he shared with his family.
