Diane Riehl's Obituary
Diane Virginia Riehl, 81, of New Port Richey, FL passed away on 12/21/2024. Diane was born in Brooklyn, on July 30, 1943, to William Milewicz and Olga (nee Pank). Diane grew up in Maspeth as an only child and lived in her grandparents’ house after her father passed when she was 13. She graduated from St. Michael’s all girls Roman Catholic High School. It was at a school dance with Miraculous Medal High School that she met and married her beloved husband, Robert “Bob”, predeceased. Their romance began in their mid-teens and as the saying goes “these two were born married”.
Diane was initially a stay-at-home mom raising her children Robert “Bobby” and Diane “Deedee” in their Central Islip home. She spent her free time at little league baseball and softball games as well as swimming meets in support of her children. She retired from the Central Islip School district where she touched many kids’ lives helping them get jobs in the community for 18 years. After retirement Diane and Bob moved to New Port Richey to enjoy the warmth of Florida and the annual “Camp Grandma & Grandpa” retreats with their granddaughters.
Diane is survived by her son & daughter and their spouses, Katherine (Riehl) and Joseph (Neglia), her three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Julia, and Megan and great granddaughter Freya.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Friday, 12/27/2024 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and will be laid to rest there next to her beloved.
