Dennis Peter Dukat's Obituary
Dennis Peter Dukat, born August 26, 1940. He peacefully finished life with his wife Camille by his side and very caring Nurses on November 7, 2024.
Dennis was a great son to Casey and Veronica Dukat. He also cared for and loved his sister Pat. All of his family except for one cousin Nancy McGill have parted. His parents one cousin Donny who was special to the whole family and his sister Pat have died. He was lucky that his family moved to Florida and he helped his sister in caring for their parents when their were alive.
Dennis has two brothers in law. They are Thomas and Michael Wasielewski and one sister in law Kathleen Konkol. He was also lucky to have good sister's in law, Tom's wife Karen and Michael's wife Mona. He was fortunate to be living near Camille's family. He watched the brothers and sisters children and their children grow up and go into the world. Dennis had a very good life and career. He was born in Milwaukee. He attended St. Alexanders Catholic school and served as altar boy for the mass. He graduated Don Bosco High School. After graduation Dennis worked for 2 years at the post office and decided to enlisted in the Marine Corp. He was stationed in San Diego, California. He became a Sergeant and was deployed to Vietnam. He was injured and received a Purple Heart. He was very humble and only later in life did Camille become aware of the medal.
Dennis went to Marquette University to be come an English teacher soon after leaving the military. He married Camille in 1970 and celebrated 54 years in 2024. Dennis graduated from Marquette University in 1971.
He purchased a small beverage store in Waterford Wisconsin in 1971 and sold to the local banker the building and business in 1980. In Waterford Dennis was asked to join the local Lions Club and he did and we attended meetings and events.
Dennis while owning the business in Waterford also became a Commodity broker in 1980 and also started his stock broker career.
Moving back to Waukesha he worked as a Registered Stockbroker for Olde & Co. He became Principal VP First Wisconsin Investment Services and few years later branch Manager at Discount Brokerage Corp of America. He later wanted to get into compliance and worked for Robert W. Baird and his last Compliance position was with Marketing One Securities.
When Camille moved to Florida to work for Karen and Thomas he left Marketing one year later. He sold our home in Waukesha which we build in a farm area with a great view and many good memories. The Florida home was purchased new in 1993. Dennis and Camille became members of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Tampa. A few years later when his mom and dad and sister moved to florida they also joined. We were very early members and saw the church slowly grow to a beautiful campus.
Dennis purchased a small Import business in St. Petersburg a few years after coming to Florida. He closed the business in 2009 and retired. While owning Souvenir Imports, Inc., he traveled to China, Phillippines, Japan, Canada and also the Carribean Islands. He was familiar from his auditing career with travel and probably saw more of the US and also Asian countries.
Retirement was busy with family nearby and a mother and sister that needed to be cared for. Pat died in 2016. Our home kept Dennis busy and Camille can attest to that from all the tools in the garage. We adopted a parking lot cat Rocky and they were best friends and he was sad that his daytime buddy was gone. He purchased a Harley Davidson Sportster which he didn't ride much but just liked to know it was in the garage. Fortunately our neighbor purchased the bike and he could see and hear it. His other love was his truck. Men and their trucks. When we sold the truck he would ask me if I saw it at work which I did.
Unfortunately Dennis's health took a turn last 3 years. He had his mother's macro degenerative disease and other health issue. This was surprising for a person who didn't drink much, never smoked and was never overweight. He stayed busy with things that he and Camille would do together like shopping and food prep. He was driving his truck and did many of the things for Camille until the last 2 years of his life.
Dennis had a good life and he was loved by many. He was friendly and people responded in kind. He will be missed. Dennis knew he was loved by his wife and family. We all should be so fortunate. Rest in Peace Dennis.
