Dee Dee L Crooks' Obituary
Tampa — Dolores “Dee Dee” Crooks, born July 28, 1953, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched so deeply. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Dee Dee was truly a bright light in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Dee Dee was the definition of selfless love. She spent her life putting the needs of others before her own, always offering comfort, guidance, kindness, and unwavering support to family, friends, and even strangers. Caring for others was not simply something she did — it was who she was. Of all the roles she held throughout her life, the one she cherished most was being “Grandma,” a title she wore with endless pride and joy.
She dedicated a large part of her life to Tampa Day School, where she became the warm and familiar face of the front office. Over the years, she watched generations of students grow into wonderful adults, forming lasting connections and leaving an unforgettable impact on countless families. Her kindness, compassion, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home.
Dee Dee found happiness in the simple but meaningful things — time with her children and grandchildren, treasured moments with her best friends, and the magic of Walt Disney World Resort, a place she loved dearly. Her laughter, warmth, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel special were gifts that cannot be replaced.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Krystal and Chloé; her beloved grandchildren, Grace, Christian, and Thomas, who were the absolute center of her world; her sister, Patty; her niece, Stephanie; her great-niece, Madison (Michael); her great-nephew, Devin; and her great-great-niece, Charlotte.
Though our hearts are broken by this loss, Dee Dee’s love and legacy will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched with her compassion, strength, and beautiful spirit.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a celebration of life to follow, from 11:30am to 3:00pm at the Benson home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dee Dee by showing kindness to others, loving deeply, and cherishing time with family — just as she always did.
