David Wissel's Obituary
David Wissel, 73, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on January 22, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1951, in Vincennes, IN, to Paul and Donna Wissel, one of two siblings along with his sister Beth. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes in 1970, then went on to attend Vincennes College. He served in the United States Navy, during which time he received a National Defense Service Medal. Throughout his career he worked as a retail store manager in several locations throughout Indiana, Missouri, and Florida. He also worked in the Angola, Indiana Foundry, as well as the NYX Company in Ft. Wayne, IN, where he worked in quality control for injection molding. He married his first spouse, Becky Reister, and the couple had two sons together, Christopher and Jason. He later married Michael Wing, and the two remained devoted partners until David’s passing.
David will be remembered as a very good man with a loving and generous heart, who was kind and friendly to all people. He had a wonderful sense of humor, with a smile that was both coy and endearing, and an infectious laugh. He enjoyed reading and watching mysteries, both fictional and true life. He faithfully attended church throughout his lifetime, beginning with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vincennes, IN, during his childhood and most recently at All Saints Lutheran Church in Lutz, FL. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family. He loved to recount his fond memories of family gatherings with his parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
David is survived by his spouse Michael Wing; his former spouse Becky Reister; his children Christopher (Jackie) Wissel and Jason (Beth Chaney); his grandchildren Jacob Wissel, Hunter Wissel, Ezran Wissel, and Madelyn Wissel; and his niece and nephew, cousins, step-granddaughter, and step-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Donna Wissel, his sister Beth Weber, his grandparents, and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all medical personnel who provided care for David during his illness, as well as Gulfside Hospice and Home Instead for their compassion and care.
