David Sanchez's Obituary
David Sanchez, 69, died December 16th, 2022, at his home in San Antonio, Florida.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr. in Trinity Florida, between the hours of 9am – 1pm on January 13th, 2023. Military honors and committal service is to follow and will be held at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave. in Bushnell Florida at 2:30pm.
David was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on July 14th, 1953 to Pedro and Clotilde Sanchez. He was 1 of 5 boys in the family. His brothers Pedro, Faustino, Harry, Milton and 3 sisters Hilda, Diana, and Irma.
Around the age of 3 years old, David moved to New York City with his family. David loved to play sports while growing up in Brooklyn, NY. He was a star basketball player for the local church’s team. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. David spent some of his active-duty time in Korea and was proud to be a Puerto Rican in the Army.
David met his wife Leticia, and they lived in Brooklyn for several years before relocating to Miami Florida, where he retired as a truck driver. He sadly lost his wife in December of 2005. In which after, he relocated to San Antonio, Florida to be closer to his brothers.
David was a people’s person and established some awesome friendships in his community. He was a funny charismatic man that loved to laugh. He enjoyed fine dining with the ones he loved the most. His hobbies were to workout at the community gym, taking long drives in his different Cadillac’s over the years, and going to the mall to walk around. His favorite films to watch were John Wayne Westerns, Chinese Shaolin, and Wu Tang movies.
David loved both his boys (cats) Smokey and Dusty very much.
He is survived by his siblings Hilda, Irma, Pedro, Harry, and Milton. Along with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and Dusty.
He will be missed tremendously. We love you!
