David Cravatta's Obituary
David Matthew Cravatta, a longtime resident of Florida, passed away with family at his side on January 4th, 2024, in his hometown of Land O’ Lakes, after a long illness. Born to William Russell Cravatta and Cathleen Elizabeth (Murphy) on October 8th, 1958, in Tonawanda, New York, Dave was the oldest of seven siblings.
David graduated from Clarence Senior High School in 1977, where he competed in football, wrestling, and track. He went on to earn an associate degree from Erie Community College and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University at Buffalo. He worked in business and finance and became a successful financial advisor, money manager, and investment strategist with Wells Fargo Advisors until his retirement. He was active in his local community, a generous philanthropist, and served as a member of the Rotary Club of Land O’ Lakes.
In 1987, David married the love of his life, Carol Giangreco of Clarence, New York, one year after relocating to the Tampa area from Western New York. In 1995, David became a devoted father to his daughter, Brittany.
Dave was a severe weather enthusiast and was fascinated with the natural world, especially extreme events, from tornadoes and hurricanes to earthquakes and tsunamis. Additionally, he loved playing hockey during his downtime, and was known as a tenacious centerman and winger with the Tampa Inline Hockey League (TIHL).
A service to honor David’s life will be held on Monday, January 15th, from 2:00 - 4:00pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens, located at 12609 Memorial Drive in Trinity, Florida.
David Cravatta will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. His kindness, laughter, and the joy he imbued will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
