Darcel Resto's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darcel L. Resto on Sept. 22, 2024, at the age of 73. Darcel was born on Oct. 19, 1950, in Hammond Indiana. Darcel graduated from East Chicago Washington High-school class of 69/70.
After being a stay home Mom during her children’s youthful years, she enrolled in cosmetology school at Don Robert’s where she graduated at the top of her class. She became a cosmetology teacher/instructor while working at Don Robert’s. She went to teach at Odessa College and Wilfred Beauty Academy in Chicago, IL where she received her Masters in Cosmetology Instruction. She then went on to teach the cosmetology class for the school district of East Chicago at the De La Garza Career Center. Tired of the brutal winters up north they decided to move to Tampa FL, in 1995, where she went to work for the Tampa School District doing Data Processing until her retirement in 2012. She spent her days, after retirement, doing the things she loved, which included traveling, cooking, crossword puzzles, listening to oldies and Motown, but more importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Geraldo T. Resto Jr., daughter Lainie Resto, daughter-in-law Lehua, grandchildren Darlaina, Nohea, Kekoa, Chaila, Julian, Laiandra, great-grandchildren Marissa, Kekai, Zule, Luna, Reagan, Willow, Nylah, and Meeko, sisters-in-law Rosa, Carmen Magaret, and Rene, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the ROCK of our family for many years and will be truly missed.
Darcel will be laid to rest, along with her husband Geraldo T. Resto Sr., at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
