Daniel A. Szymanski's Obituary
Daniel Szymanski (“Dan” as he preferred) of Tampa Florida, died suddenly and sadly on October 18, 2021. Dan was a gentle and kind soul, and an adored son of Thaddeus and Jackie Szymanski. A wonderful brother to Lisa Wiciak, brother-in-law to Michael Wiciak and a devoted Godfather to his niece Violet Wiciak.
Dan was an avid Tampa Bay area sports fan and enjoyed watching and attending games. He primarily focused on his alma mater the UCF Knights and Tampa Bay Lightning “GO BOLTS”! Dan played football at Tampa Bay Technical High School and this experience further helped develop his passion for the game and all sports. He also loved the outdoors and being active - walking parks close to his home, hiking, biking and going to the gym. He cherished experiencing new adventures and traveling abroad. Everyone would look forward to his exciting stories, such as running with the bulls in Spain, diving the ocean waters, walking the Jesus Trail in Israel or hiking the canyons in Utah. This love of the outdoors extended to a special cross-country trip with his dad and two uncles visiting key National Parks.
Dan graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Finance and earned the distinguished honor of being named to the President’s Honor Roll. He was a member of UCF Fraternity Alpha Tau Omega and developed lifelong relationships that have endured until this day. He also received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tampa. He was employed at OPTUM as a Manager, in Financial Planning & Analysis.
Dan was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampa since birth.
His survivors include a maternal grandmother, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an abundant wealth of friends. We will all miss him tremendously.
The funeral service will be held on October 29, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 N Blvd., Tampa, FL 33613 with a visitation of family and friends from 9am to 11am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11am. A funeral procession will follow to Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, FL 34655.
If you wish to make a contribution in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dan’s name and honor to The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
