Dana Bright's Obituary
Dana Bright, 94, passed away on July 25, 2023, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born to Celia and Daniel Seibert on April 4, 1929, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley and Hope, and a brother, Paul. Dana grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from South Side High School. She was married to Marvel David (Dave) Bright for 52 years until his death in 2003. She and her husband moved to the west coast of Florida in 1976, and she lived there for 44 years.
Dana lived a full life as a wife, mother, sister, and friend. Dana and Dave had three daughters: Kate (Colorado), Patt (North Carolina), and Hope (Illinois). She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She instilled a strong sense of independence in all her children and grandchildren.
Dana was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, making numerous family heirlooms and keepsake quilts. She was active in the Grace Brethren church throughout her life and loved reading the Bible and listening to inspirational radio broadcasts. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing comfort and guidance to her throughout her life. Service to others was important to her. She often drove friends and neighbors to church services and doctor appointments, and she cared for her husband, Dave, for many years during his illness.
Everyone who knew her knew she loved chocolate. Her favorite saying was “Things are bad; send chocolate.”
She will be interred at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, Florida. Donations in support of dementia research may be made in lieu of sending flowers.
