Dale Blain's Obituary
Dale O. Blain was born July 21, 1927 and passed away peacefully in his home on
Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. Dale was married to Betty D. Blain, his best friend and the
love of his life, on Nov. 25, 1950. They would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this month. They lived in Kankakee, IL until 1997 when they moved to
Florida to be close to family.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II at the age of 17. He had
orders to go overseas, but the war ended in September of 1945. He was honorably
discharged in 1946.
Dale enjoyed hard work and respected anyone with a good work ethic. In Illinois
loved growing a vegetable garden, and shared the fruits of his labor with many
friends and neighbors. After moving to Florida, he became more interested in
plants and flowers. His front yard was always a show stopper. He was an avid
reader of current events both national and local. He also enjoyed professional
basketball.
Surviving are his daughter, Vicki Azzarelli and son-in-law Rick Azzarelli of Land O'
Lakes, Fl. Granddaughter Jennifer Azzarelli of Tampa, FL, Grandson Jason Azzarelli
and his wife Rachel Azzarelli fo Tampa, FL. and his twin Great-Granddaughters , Brynn and Ellie.
They had many friends throughout their lifetime, many with whom they danced
and traveled. After moving to Florida they were surrounded by many wonderful
neighbors who became like family and watched over them.
He had one particularly loyal neighbor and friend, Larry Dodd with whom he was
very grateful for to the very end of his days. He thought Larry could "hang the
moon."
He had a very special caregiver, Stephanie Murray, who was his guardian angel
during the last months of his life. Thank you also to Elsie Torres.
His service will at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr., Trinity, FL.
34655 on Nov. 19, 2019. Visitation is from 2:30 to 3:00 with a service to follow
from 3:00 to 4:00.
