Cristina Flores' Obituary
Cristina Laico Flores was a long-time resident of Wesley Chapel for 20 years and passed away peacefully in Midland, Michigan, on July 18, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on July 11, 1940, to Luz Los Baños Laico and Dr. Jaime Laico in Manila, Philippines.
Cristina attended St. Scholastica College in Manila, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Music. She was a dedicated piano teacher for over 50 years, sharing her passion for music with countless students. Cristina also taught Filipino folk dances and ballet during her high school years and performed as a piano soloist with a full orchestra.
She married Ambrosio Flores, Jr in 1966 and they were married for 58 years. They had 3 children.
In addition to her music career, Cristina retired from General Motors and later became a beloved preschool teacher for 10 years.
Cristina was preceded in death by her siblings: Leticia Elizaga, Jaime Jr. Laico, Virginia Villanueva, Antonio Laico, and Celina David.
She is survived by her loving husband and children: Ambrosio Flores, Teresa Jones (Hal) of Midland, MI, Alfonso Flores (Dr. Helena) of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, and Jonathan Jude (JJ) Flores of San Gabriel, CA). Cristina was a proud grandmother to Corey Damocles (Phoenix, AZ), Cleric Damocles (Bay City, MI), Samantha Damocles (Grand Rapids, MI), Micah Damocles (Bay City, MI), Justin Flores (Grosse Pointe Park, MI), Alyssa Flores (Grosse Pointe Park, MI), and Jaxson Potter-Flores (San Gabriel, CA).
Cristina is also survived by her sisters: Dulce Juarez (Walnut Creek, CA), Milagros Villasenor (Wesley Chapel, FL), Rosario Santayana (Auckland, New Zealand), Aurora Packwood (Pleasant Hill, CA), and Lourdes Laico (Pleasant Hill, CA).
Cristina's legacy of music, education, and love will be cherished by all who knew her.
