Colleen Steward's Obituary
Colleen was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota on March 12th, 1952. She resided with her parents, Norman and Jeanette McLeod, and her siblings, Sharon Nygren and Douglas McLeod, until she embarked on her adventures that finally led her to Florida. Shortly after she made Florida her permanent home, she met the love of her life, Bud Steward, at church. Bud and Colleen loved their church dearly and dedicated their time to raising their daughters in church and the love of Christ. They were blissfully married for twenty-one years until Bud’s passing in 2003. Her love and devotion to Bud never ceased.
Her love of family was evident by how she prioritized her time. She loved her two daughters, Amber and Lindsay, dearly and loved watching them grow up. She attended every sporting event, academic recognition, and career milestone. When she wasn’t spending time with her daughters, she was spending time with her family. She loved shopping with her sister, Sharon, at her favorite store, Target, and going to the movies. While she was at the movies she would snack on Twizzlers and popcorn with M & M’s. Another obsession that they both shared was their love of dogs. In fact, they both purchased and adopted dogs SEVERAL times together. (Please note the pictures of her dogs dressed up in the slideshow).
Her love of family kept her going back to Minnesota during her adult life. While there, she would enjoy spending time with her brother, Doug, relaxing on the lake, boating, and fishing. She also spent time with her parents going to dinner at their favorite local restaurant, Dells, and at their cabin.
Colleen is remembered as someone adventurous, spunky, and joyful. When spending time with Colleen, you could always hear her laugh! Not only was it distinct but contagious as well. She enjoyed reminiscing of her childhood and past time with Bud and her kids.
She is remembered as someone who was kind to others and prayed for them often. In fact, Bible verses are hung or handwritten throughout her home as a reminder that this Earth was not her permanent home. We find comfort knowing her testimony of receiving Christ early in her life. Her love of Christ was evident throughout her life.
Colleen entered her heavenly home on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. She is survived by her daughters, Amber Owen and Lindsay Steward. Her siblings, Sharon Nygren and Douglas McLeod and her grandchildren that she loved dearly, Alexis and Christopher Owen.
