Catherine P Rankin's Obituary
Catherine (Kay) Rankin (89) of New Port Richey, Florida passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2019.
Originally from Chicago Illinois, and later Romeoville Illinois, she was a resident of New Port Richey for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Allen (Pat) Rankin, her three children Timothy, Mark and Juliana Valenta, as well as her parents James and Helen Mikolaitis. She is survived by her daughter Tina (Russ) Finks, Grandson Porter Rankin, and Godson Deacon Mike Zibrun as well as a host of cousins.
For 15 years, Kay was the owner of “A Kut Above” Beauty Salon and Barber Shop, and an adjacent Thrift Shop “Second Hand Rose” on State Route 52. And was blessed with many friendships with customers and good friends.
Kay was blessed also with special “true friends” in her life, like Sharon Zurfluh, who was like a sister to Kay. Her husbands’ contract work with several large international companies allowed Kay and Al the opportunity to “travel the world” together.
At her own personal request, she will be waked at Trinity Memorial gardens at 12609 Memorial Dr, Trinity, FL on Thursday, January 24th, from 6:00 to 8:00. There will be a Mass offered at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 8400 Monarch Drive in Port Richey Florida on Friday, January 25th, at 10:30 followed by a procession to Trinity Memorial Gardens for prayers and internment.
A toast and celebration will be held at: Brits Pub, 13706 Little Rd, Hudson, FL 34667 from 1:00 to 3:00 following the internment.
