Catherine Maureen McNamara Levy's Obituary
Catherine Maureen McNamara Levy, 80, of Odessa, FL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2024, with her family and friends by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer and Parkinsons.
Maureen was born May 26, 1944, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Mahoney) McNamara. She graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School in 1965. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Cornelio Aquino Ruperto who she married in July 1966 and Victor Levy who she married in February 2002. The family, along with many friends, has lost a generous, loving human being. Her passions included watercolor painting, reading, cake decorating, baking, shopping, gardening, traveling, and, above all, spending time with her 12 grandchildren. Maureen loved cooking for family and friends. She lived to make others happy. Her big hugs and love of life will be greatly missed.
After graduating from nursing school, she worked in a variety of places. She loved being a surgical, medical floor, and home health nurse. She worked in hospitals in Montreal, Saint John, and Tampa. She devoted most of her life to being the CEO of her four children. She supported numerous athletic games, recitals, and other events. She also created beautiful cakes for birthdays and weddings for family and friends. Her smile and generous ways can never be replaced. Maureen was one of a kind.
Those who will miss Maureen the most include daughter - Mary Lisa Ruperto and her husband Ron, sons - Cornelio Roderick Ruperto and his wife Debbie, Jason Andrew Ruperto and his wife Emmy, and Phillip Ian Ruperto and his wife Lynn. Her beloved grandchildren: Logan, Theo, Leah, Maddy, Ellie, Kayla, Stella, Caleb, Lucia, Lucas, Jacob, and Henry. Other family members include sisters Sharon Moody and her husband Barry, Sheila Dolan and her husband Peter (deceased), Karen Riley, brother Joe McNamara and his wife Terri, and a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. Last, amazing caregivers Lena, Sandra, Michelle, and Ileana, and others at the Colonnade. She was reunited in Heaven with her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Parkinsons or Cancer Associations.
