Carolyn Thomas' Obituary
Carolyn S. Thomas, 79, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Heather Hill Healthcare Center in New Port Richey, where she had been a patient for a short time. She was in the company of family. Carolyn was born February 7, 1945, in Granite City, Illinois, daughter of the late Harry E Jones and Clara R Jones whom she loved with all of her heart.
Carolyn grew up in Granite City, Illinois but moved to Lansing, Michigan in her early adult years. She excelled in everything she did; she was an advocate for abused and neglected children and served with Ingham County, Child Protective Services as a volunteer. She also was an exceptional manager and director for the food industry, despite not having a college degree. At the age of 33, she met and married the love of her life, Jack H Thomas of Lansing MI, and they spent 46 years happily married. Carolyn and Jack moved to Florida in May 1988. While in Florida, Carolyn was very active with the Homeowners Association in her neighborhood.
Carolyn had a passion for the outdoors and travel. She enjoyed golfing. She especially loved spending time with her family at Disney World while enjoying the campgrounds at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Carolyn also had a love of cruising too. Carolyn recently completed a cruise with her family before her passing.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Jack H Thomas, of New Port Richey, Florida, Cathy J Thornton of Canton, Georgia, David V Torok (Tish) of Land O Lakes, Florida and Denine M Barham (Sheridon) of Clearwater, Florida; six grandchildren, Taylor, Samanatha and Jacob Thornton, Courtney (Marc) Wise, Conner Torok and Logan Barham; and three great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn will be laid to rest Friday, May 31st at 2:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Gardens, New Port Richey, FL. Donations can be made to the Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTMir), a patient advocacy organization leading the fight against lung disease @ www.ntminfo.org.
