Carolyn B Hise's Obituary
Carolyn Bishop Hise, 89, of St. Petersburg, FL., passed away at her daughters home surrounded by her family, Sunday, March 31st, 2019. She was the daughter of George Houston Bishop and Minerva M. Moore, and grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Wilmington High School and then went to work for the Alfred I. DuPont Institute where she was a Recreational Therapist for Children with physical and mental disabilities. Ms. Hise was director of volunteers, and responsible for increasing volunteer membership from 2 to over 200 participants. Carolyn was blessed with a gifted singing voice and was a very active member of the local theater company in Wilmington, Delaware. She was a devout Episcopalian and member of the church choir where she was often the featured soloist for Sunday services, as well as Easter and Christmas. Her favorite pastime was playing and giving instruction for Bridge, as well as winning many duplicate Bridge tournaments. She was an unparalleled hostess and cook, and certainly knew how to enjoy life, often throwing large Bridge parties at her home. In 1968 she married Charles R. Hise in Wilmington Delaware at the Tally Ho Restaurant and Banquet Hall. The couple subsequently moved with Carolyn’s two children, Laura and Bradford Clark, to St. Petersburg, Florida where Charles had been promoted to a job within the Westinghouse Corporation in Tampa. In 1969 the family welcomed a new addition, Christa M. Hise to the family. In December 1978, Carolyn, Christa, and Charles moved to Tehran, Iran because of a job opportunity within Westinghouse Corp. Carolyn had many adventures in Iran and navigated the new culture for 18 months before the family was evacuated because of the Iranian Revolution. Carolyn often spoke of her adventures in Iran and shared her experiences with many school youth groups and other audiences. The couple and Christa moved to Fallston, Maryland in 1979 where Carolyn was Recreational Activities Director at the Bel Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Forest Hill, MD. After living in Fallston, Maryland for 14 years, the couple retired to Trinity, Florida where they built a lovely home with a pool. Carolyn hosted many family Christmas’ and made each holiday a memorable occasion for all.
Carolyn B. Hise is preceded in Death by Charles R. Hise. She is survived by her children, Laura B. Clayton of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jay Bradford Clark of Abilene, Texas, and Christa M. Chery-Hise of Baltimore, Maryland. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 5th, 2019 at Trinity Memorial Gardens; 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, FL 34655
The family will receive guests from 1:00-1:30pm and there will be a memorial service from 1:30-2:00pm.
