Carmen Ramirez's Obituary
Carmen Ramirez of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026.
Carmen was born July 16, 1942 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Her father came to New York for a better life for his family. When he was able to save enough money, he sent for his family to come to New York and they lived in Brooklyn for a brief time with family. They moved to Manhattan on 28th Street. She loved everything about New York. The change of seasons, especially winter, the food, the bus and trains as she did not drive.
Carmen was a retired Teachers Assistant. She worked for Multimedia Preschool in Manhattan where she nurtured, taught and took good care of those preschoolers. We heard many beautiful stories about the students and their families.
In 2008 Carmen and her husband, Artty, moved to Tampa, Florida to enjoy their retirement and to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
Carmen is survived by her two children: Cindy Cruz (son-in-law Jose “Chet” Cruz) and Gregory Deveraux; four grandchildren: Jeremy Cruz, Jared Cruz, Magnus Deveraux and Jade Deveraux. She is also survived by her brother Max Aldahondo (sister-in-law Edith Aldahondo). She is survived by her nephews: Ignacio Garcia Jr., John Henry Roman, Hector Jeffrey Ramirez, Anthony Garcia, Alan Aldahondo and Frankie Sosa. She is predeceased by her brother Hernan Aldahondo and her sister Judith Sosa.
She will forever live in our hearts and forever be our matriarch. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Especially, her daughter. Until we meet again.
