Calvin Leonard Dickey Jr.'s Obituary

On Friday July 12, 2024, Calvin Dickey Jr, loving son, brother and friend to many passed away suddenly at the age of 18.

Calvin Leonard Dickey Jr. was born in Tampa, FL. September 26, 2005, to Mr. Calvin Sr. and Mrs. Nicole Dickey. From a young age Calvin, affectionately known as CJ began his athletic journey. At approximately 5 years old, he began playing baseball where he quickly excelled. A big part of early years was spent playing travel baseball where he made many friends. A fond memory was him hitting 5 homers in a day. CJ continued playing baseball into high school until he discovered his passion for football. He began his football journey at Pineview Middle School. As a high school freshman, he was a starter on the Land O’ Lakes High School team. In his Junior year, he transferred to Carrollwood Day School and became a “CDS” Patriot. While at CDS, Calvin was an honor student in the classroom, he played baseball, football and was actively involved in many school activities. He quickly became a very popular and well liked student and he was even voted one of the team Captains on the football team in his Senior year. He also received recognition for the Coaches Award and All Academics Team. CJ was a force to be reckoned with on the football field, earning him several D1 football scholarship offers. He ultimately accepted a football scholarship offer to attend Bucknell University. He had hoped one day to become a Pharmacist.

He enjoyed the connections he made with his friends and teammates. He treasured making lasting memories at family gatherings celebrating birthdays, holidays, graduations, and many other events. Most of all, he valued time spent with his family; out boating with his dad, breakfast dates with his mom and watching movies (documentaries) with his sister.
