Byron J Norrie Sr.'s Obituary
Byron James Norrie passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 24th surrounded by his family. He was 83.
Byron was born in Niagra Falls, NY and graduated from Kenmore West High School. He moved to Venice, Florida in 1958 and went into the seal coating business with his father. He would soon transfer careers and found himself at the forefront of the facsimile business, beginning with Teleautograph/Omnifax Corp. in 1961 as a serviceman. He was promoted to sales shortly after and spent 35 years with Teleautograph as Southeast Area Sales Manager. In 1995 Byron and his son Byron Jr. began their own company, Skyway Technology, in Tampa, Florida. In 2001, Skyway was recognized as a finalist in the inaugural Florida Family Business Awards hosted by the University of Tampa. Skyway would eventually employ more than 60 people. Byron Sr. retired in 2011.
Byron was a devoted family man who adored his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel and was always on the move. Up until his last days, he was always planning his next adventure or vacation. In the last several years of his life, he took on a new thirst for Jesus and would spend countless hours reading books and studying scriptures. He had a peace about him and always put God and family first. Most impressive was his love affair with his wife of 63 years. He adored her and his family and will be greatly missed.
Byron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years and his four children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home on February 10th at 10:30 am. 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, Fl. 34655.
