Betsey O'brien
Bridget was a dear friend for over 30 years. We met when our family first moved to Coral Springs, Florida. She always greeted with that sweet smile and "Hey!" We shared our ups and downs over the years together. She loved her family, her children, and her children's children! I would often get photos with her beautiful grandchildren! Bridget agreed to stand for my daughter Caitlin's confirmation by proxy when we moved to South Carolina. Caitlin chose Saint Bridget as her name for that sacrament.
This poem rings true for me when I think of my friend:
When I'm Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
and travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
and only remember the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken.
Remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun.
Forget that I stumbled and blundered
and sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
and won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
and remember the place that I lay,
And come in the shade of the evening
when the sun paints the sky in the west.
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember me only my best.
"Hey," I love you and will miss you! Betsey O'Brien
