Bernardo B Sison's Obituary
In the early morning of March 8th, 2024, Bernardo Sison, known by family and friends as Narding, peacefully departed this world surrounded by loving family. His life was filled with 87 years of family, faith, and fearlessness.
Narding was born in Catbalogan Samar, Philippines on June 26, 1936, to Bernabe Arteche Sison and Soledad Japzon Bolastig. He is the eldest of 4 siblings Erlinda Avisado, Fr. Bernabe (Bobby) Sison, Antonio Sison and Ludy Ventura. He is survived by his wife, Marcy Sison, his five children Al, Chona, Noel, Anne, and Cindy, and his nine grandchildren, Justin, Brina, Naya, Megan, Nicky, Jacob, Alvin, Erin, and Matthew.
Narding was a beloved and headstrong husband, father, brother, grandfather, and a respected elder of a generation who leaves behind an abundant legacy of family and pride. He dedicated his time to various Filipino organizations including the Filipino Pastoral Ministry, San Lorenzo Ruiz Association, and most notably founded the Katbaloganon USA Association. His vision transformed a congregation of families moving from Catbalogan to the New York tri-state area into an inter-generational community that truly honors kinship, ancestry, faith, heritage, and home.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit continues to live on in the hearts he touched, the spaces he created, and the memories we share.
