Dottie, Jeff, Greg, Chris and Family, Ruby and I send our sincerest condolences for the loss of Bernie/Dad. I had a special 3 years of working for and learning from Bernie. I wanted to share a story that included all of us, hoping that you would remember. We had just gotten transferred to Tampa and it was close to the Holidays. Bernie invited us to share Christmas Day with you, but first….we played basketball on the Rupp driveway Christmas Morning! It was about 75 degrees and I couldn’t help thinking “how great is this!” Ruby, my 1 year old son, Richard and I came over later on for Christmas Dinner. Dottie, you and Bernie made us feel so welcome…that was the Oscar Mayer way, and it meant a lot to us. Bernie was such a good man and an outstanding manager of people. Rest in Peace, Bernie. I so loved getting to know Bernie and Dottie when they moved to Tampa. Playing tennis was always so much fun whether it was just the girls or mixed. Dinners at various friends home was also a special group with lots of fun and good food. Bernie was one of the nicest, most upstanding men I have ever known and I shall miss him dearly.
Bernie was a Miller Lite guy. He was famous at the end of an evening for grabbing (2) Miller Lite Beers. One for bedtime and one for when he had to get up in the middle of the night. Bernie always made all of his team feel like family. He will for ever be remembered for teaching marketing and promotion folks how important it was to spend money in Florida when the Snow Birds flew south for the winter vs. spending in the summer. Amazing Super Bowl promotions. He loved his hometown Bucs.
