Aplin Sr., Bennie Gene
67, of Tampa, FL. passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. Bennie was born September 3, 1950 in Tampa, FL. to Henry and Eleanor (nee Terry) Aplin, he was the youngest of eight children. Bennie had a deep love for his family and was strongly protective of all of them. His children and grandchildren were the loves of his life. In addition to being a loving father and devoted grandfather, he was well known for his gracious heart and soul. Bennie was also known for his stunning blue eyes and charismatic personality. Bennie was an entrepreneur who enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors deep sea fishing, where he was known as “Captain Brutal” for his passion and intensity, and was an avid hunter with an innate ability to finish the job. Bennie also had a strong passion for cooking which was driven by his love of preparing feasts for family and friends. Bennie is survived by his son and daughter, Bennie G. Aplin Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth and Lauren Aplin Demattia and her husband, Robert; four grandchildren, Dustin DeMattia, Aaron (Cynthia), Destiny and Austin Aplin; two great-grandchildren, Bella and Emma Aplin; his brother, Robert Aplin (JoAnn); his sisters, JaAnn Rairigh, Jane White (Eric), and Janet Scoggins; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. A celebration of Bennie’s life will be held Saturday September 23, 11 am at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr., Trinity, FL. 34655. Raymond Rairigh will be officiating the services, inurnment to immediately follow.
