Benjamin Henson's Obituary
Benjamin Franklin “Bubba” Henson, 84, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2024. He was born on October 10, 1939, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Benjamin and Edith Henson, one of three siblings with his brother Charles and sister Wanda. After graduating from City High School in Chattanooga in 1957, he served in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he worked in the insurance business before starting his permanent career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He married his sweetheart Phyllis in 1961, and the couple started a family together, with the birth of their son Jeffrey.
When he was not working, Benjamin had many interests. He could often be found watching baseball and football. He loved to take care of his home, landscaping and planting flowers, and fixing things. His favorite hobby was photography, and his beautiful photographs will be cherished by his family for years to come. He also loved trains and everything about them. He loved model railroading and filming and photographing steam engines and steam trains. He was a member of Idlewild Baptist Church and served as a Church Deacon and Church Elder at New Beginnings Christian Church, previously known as Westshore Christian Church.
Benjamin is survived by his wife Phyllis Ann Henson, his sister Wanda Henson Lewis, his son Jeffrey Henson, and his grandson, Jeremy Henson. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Breedin Henson, mother Edith Rosetta Fairbanks Henson, and brother Charles William Henson.
