Aurelio J. Alvarez's Obituary
Aurelio Jose Alvarez, 78, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer. He leaves behind his daughters Josie Alvarez-Burks, Yoanis Alvarez-Smith and Jackie Alvarez Chancey-Machin, son-in-laws John Burks and Steven Smith, granddaughters Abigail Chancey, Ava Burks, Angelina Burks and Aurora Machin, grandsons Robert Chancey and Benjamin Chancey.
Aurelio was born on March 27, 1944 in Havana, Cuba to father Aurelio Jesus Alvarez and mother Maria Del Carmen Alvarez, who predeceased him. He grew up in a large loving family with three sisters and one brother. He leaves behind his three sisters Maria Carmen Garces, Elisa Ghattas and Isabel Alvarez-Gamoneda, his brother Jesus Alvarez, sister-in-law Miriam Alvarez, niece Yaime Alvarez-Broussard, nephew Jesus Alvarez along with many other numerous nieces and nephews.
Aurelio married Evangelina on October 26, 1968 in Cuba. They moved to New Orleans, LA in 1980, they then moved to Tampa, FL in 1990 where they raised their three daughters before settling in Land O’ Lakes, FL in 2006. Aurelio was a watch-repairman for over forty years, he was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic. In his free time he enjoyed traveling with his family, most especially going on cruises and spending quality time together. He was most proud of the beautiful family he created and cherished every moment he spent with them.
Aurelio remained brave throughout his cancer diagnosis, even in his final weeks.
The family would like to thank the staff of HPH Hospice, Chapters Health System, for the constant care and guidance provided to them as well as all their family and friends that have reached out and supported them throughout this difficult time.
