Arthur Fairman's Obituary
Fairman, Arthur, 88, of Port Richey, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 17 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Arthur "Hap" Fairman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 11, 1926. Hap is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Fairman; his children George Fairman, Linda Lindsey, & Dorothy Meeks; his granddaughters January Kushner & Tessa Meeks; his son-in-law David Meeks; & several nieces and nephews.
Arthur served in the submarines while in the Navy during World War II. It was in the navy where he earned the nickname "Hap" because nothing ever bothered him and he was always happy. While enlisted, he participated in the testing of the atom bomb at Bikini Atoll. Through the GI Bill, he attended night school at Brooklyn Polytech for 9 years while working full time to support his family, earning his BS in Engineering.
Hap enjoyed one of the highest levels of security clearance. Notable achievements include repairing NORAD during the Cuban Missile Crisis, designing a part for the first moon probe, & designing a part used in the Stealth Bomber.
By the time Hap retired, he reached the level of Executive Vice President of his company. Not one to rest on his laurels, he searched for an organization where he could volunteer his time & assist others. He initially volunteered with a community watch group but after learning about SCORE he knew that was where he was meant to be. Hap is currently the longest serving member of SCORE Chapter 439. He served the community by assisting his clients in seeking start up funding and capital for operating their businesses.
Hap just never stopped giving and he will be missed by all, especially his loving family & friends.
