Apalsamy Samuel's Obituary
Apalsamy Samuel (age 75), of Tampa, Florida, passed away on May 31st, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Apalsamy Samuel was born on September 5th, 1950, in Corentyne, Berbice, Guyana, to Phulmattie Appadu and Samuel Appadu.
He graduated from Chandisingh (Corentyne) High School in 1969. He later attended the Guyana Police Academy. He became a constable, a corporal, and then a sergeant. He served as a member of the Guyana Police Force for 23 years. From 1996–2022, he was a security officer and site supervisor for a company in America.
On June 6th, 1971, he married the love of his life, Devika Rani Singh, and together they shared 54 years of marriage.
In his free time as a youth, Apalsamy enjoyed playing cricket and dominoes. He continued to enjoy watching cricket and football, as well as playing dominoes or card games with his family. He was especially proud of his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Devika Samuel; daughters Anita Kong (husband, James Kong), Perdita Lopez (fiance, Jefferey), and Avita Hubbard (husband, Robert Hubbard); grandchildren Josh Samuel-Lopez (wife, Lexi Samuel-Lopez) and Perdita Jocey Samuel-Lopez (fiance, Joseph); great-grandchildren Jaxon Samuel-Lopez and Maddox Samuel-Lopez; sisters Lalita Samuel John (husband, Michael) and Indra Khuldiph (late husband, Jagat); nephews Shamindra, Navindra, Rakesh, Raju, Marvin, and Dominic; and nieces Nadira and Sandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Phulmattie Appadu; brother Jerry; father-in-law Dalsingh; and grandchildren Jonathan and Bianca Kong.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 5th, 2026, with Pandit Metha presiding. Cremation will follow.
