Antonio A Mendonca's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Antonio Augusto Mendonca, 84, on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024.
Antonio “Tony” was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived his life to ensure the happiness of his entire family.
Born in Beja, Portugal, on November 1st, 1940. The oldest of three siblings, Lionel and Maria Dores. Tony immigrated to the United States in June 1969 along with his beloved wife, Ana Maria, for the well being of his family’s future.
Custom Tailor by trade, Tony was a proud business owner in the Philadelphia area where he and his family resided for 22 years. Being actively involved in the Portuguese Community in Philadelphia was his passion. After his daughter, son-in-law, and son moved to the Tampa Bay Area, Tony and Ana Maria moved to Florida as well to be closer to their family. Residing in Florida for the past 33 years watching his family grow was a source of pride and joy for Tony.
Tony’s favorite pastimes included gardening, bowling, reading, playing sudoku, and watching action movies. He was always designing, sewing, and perfecting his gifted talent of being a tailor.
Tony is predeceased by his wife of his 62 years, the love of his life Ana Maria, along with his daughter Ana Paula Schrader and son Antonio Fernando Mendonca. Son-in-law Alan Todd Schrader and daughter-in-law Patricia Anne Mendonca, respectively. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Alan Bates-Mendonca and wife Stephanie Bates-Mendonca, Antonio Welton Mendonca, Ryan Fernando Mendonca, and Ashley Taylor Schrader, as well as great grandsons Dexter and Reid Bates-Mendonca.
All of our hearts are going to have a little piece missing, but we will continue to live the life he would want for us with pride and happiness together as family.
Forever in our hearts. Beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa.
