Anthony Urbano's Obituary
Anthony Louis Urbano, 90 passed away peacefully on December 12, 2019 in Chattanooga, TN. Anthony was born March 15, 1929 to Antonio Urbano and Rose Urbano (Gianitti) in Newark, New Jersey and after leaving New Jersey with his own family lived in Avon, Connecticut, Birmingham, Alabama and Hudson, Florida before moving to Chattanooga, TN. He served for 4 years in the Navy from 1951-1955, and was on the USS McCaffery DDE860.
He attended Newark College of Engineering and received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked at Wilbur B. Driver Company in New Jersey and Videk before moving to Avon, Connecticut in 1973, where he worked at Gavlick Machinery Company. Later he began his own business Urbano Associates in 1984 and continued with this business until the day he passed. He was a dedicated worker and said he would not retire and he didn’t. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Jeanne Urbano (D’Alessio) for 61 years until her passing on December 7, 2011 in Hudson, Florida. He is survived by three children Karen and her husband Paul, Anthony Peter Urbano and his wife Carol, Lauren Byrne (Urbano) and her husband Kenneth, his grandchildren Carla Cifarelli, Rebecca Urbano, Kyle Byrne, Sean Byrne and Cassandra (Byrne) Goss and her husband Carlton, his great grandchildren, Mariah, Nathan, Zayden, Tucker, Molly, Skyler, Mikkah and predeceased by his granddaughter Regina Rose Byrne.
When not with family or working he used his talents building clocks for the special people in his life and doing other woodworking projects. He enjoyed telling stories, making people laugh, playing golf, poker, billiards, the Genealogy club, volunteering for The ToyMakers organization at Heritage Pines, a non-profit group that provides free, hand-made wooden toys to children in need and with his ever-young spirit, even relearned how to play bridge just last year. He will be missed and remembered fondly for his talkative nature, his sense of humor and his corny jokes.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Memorial Drive at 11:30am.
