Angela Mary Amodeo's Obituary
Angela Amodeo, devoted wife and mother of six children, departed this world on Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at the age of 71. A resident of Land O’ Lakes, FL, she passed following a courageous, decade-long battle with cancer while surrounded by her husband and children.
Angela was born on January 30, 1952, in Buffalo, NY, into the loving family of Paul and Jenny Centore, their fifth and youngest child. Her childhood was a happy one, fostering within her a strong love of faith and family. Her innate love of children led her to become a special education teacher. At age 19, Angela met Donald, then a pre-med student, and immediately shared with her mother that she had found the man she would marry. They tied the knot on August 16, 1975, and welcomed their first son, Don, in 1980. Their extraordinary family continued to grow through the blessing of adoption, with Jessica and Christine adopted from Korea in 1983 and 1986 respectively. Following a relocation to Florida, they proceeded to adopt Michael in 1988, Mary Anne in 1992, and Theresa in 1995.
Angela’s was a home in which everyone was welcome. She rejoiced in spending time with her grandchildren: Matthew, Rachel, Emily, Westen, Cole, Teddy, and Maggie. Her devout faith in Our Lord and devotion to His Mother shaped every aspect of her life. Her love of the Catholic Church led her to volunteer in many capacities, including teaching RCIA and CCD, and serving as a Eucharistic minister to the homebound. She would go on to join the Third Order of the Discalced Carmelites and to attain a master’s degree in theology from Ava Maria University in 2012.
Angela is survived by her husband, Dr. Donald Amodeo, and her children, Fr. Don Amodeo, Jessica Richey, Christine Davis, Mary Anne Amodeo and Theresa Amodeo. She is predeceased by her son, Michael Amodeo.
A funeral Mass is to be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O’Lakes, FL, on Saturday, October 7th at 10:30 AM. She will fittingly be laid to rest on the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary. Fr. Don Amodeo, her son, will be presiding.
