Alberto Rodriguez's Obituary
Alberto Rodriguez, 89, passed away on December 1, 2023, surrounded by loving family. He was born on April 15, 1934, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico and moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1954. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 31 years, only missing three days of work during this time, and retired in 1989. He returned to Puerto Rico in 1989 until finally settling in Tampa, Florida in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary “Nina” Rodriguez, (nee Garza); daughters Alicia (Miguel) Gonzalez, Annette Rodriguez, Angie (Humberto) Acevedo, and Arlene Rodriguez; grandchildren, Hector Feliciano Jr., Leticia Tillman, Cecilia Lemaster, William Rodriguez II, Efrain Gonzalez, Maritza Acevedo, David Rodriguez, Alberto Rodriguez, and Manuel Varela; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father Eulojio Rodriguez, mother Maria Alvarado, and siblings Carmen Alvarado, America Torres, and Francisco Mercado.
He loved the Christmas season, having parrandas, and being around family and friends. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, gardening, being outdoors, and could usually be found swinging on his hammock while listening to music. He was involved in politics while in Puerto Rico and always maintained an interest in having Puerto Rico become a state. He was also involved in church, including Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain and Our Lady of the Rosary in Land O’Lakes, Florida.
A mass will be held for family and friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 2348 Collier Pkwy, Land O’ Lakes, FL. This will be followed by a placement ceremony at 12:00pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 12609 Memorial Dr., Trinity, FL.
