March 1st 2021. A day in our family memories that will never be erased. As remembered by her Grandson Phillip, My beautiful Grandmother. Vernetta Jane Rossi went on to be with her lord and most importantly her husband. She has waited 21 years to see the love of her life again and now she can rejoice with him in heaven, not enduring anymore pain. My Grandmother made an impact on ALOT of adult and children’s lives in her 88 years on this earth. These weren’t just observed. These were told to us repeatedly. Grandma would light up any room she walked in because of the woman she was and the respect people had for her. Her smile and her laugh was contagious as well as the genuine love she had for family and friends. Fun fact: at the first Assisted Living Facility she went into (her choice) we called her the President, because we couldn’t walk into any room without people saying “Hello Nettie! How are you?” I mean everyone. She would circle the room making little jokes here and there and shaking hands. A leader is what she was. I learned a lot from this amazing woman and I have her to thank for the man I am today and the respect she instilled upon me to have for others. She taught me traditional American values; a firm handshake, make eye contact, make my bed in the morning, keep a clean home and work area, cook, be an A student in all of my schooling, and the list goes on and on. Yesterday, with family gathered all around her bed side, she said, “I lived a great life. I have 3 beautiful girls, 3 beautiful grand children, and a beautiful family. I did good!” Well Grandma, you did excellent. I am proud to be your Grandson. Wesley is proud to be your Grandson. Kalee is proud to be your granddaughter. Emmalynn, Everett, Presley, and Mayson are proud to be your great grandchildren. Brittni and Lindsey are proud to be your granddaughters. And above all else my Mom Kelly, Aunt Rocky, and Aunt Pam are proud and honored to be your daughters. In fact, anyone and everyone is proud to have just known you and spent time with you. So this isn’t good bye. I refuse to say that. “I’ll see you later Grandma.” I’ll miss you dearly but I find peace that now you and Grandpa Chuck are watching the family from a better place. We will follow your wish of keeping the tradition family gatherings for every holiday and every birthday. You lived for those moments and so will we. Grandson Wesley adds, I’m not one for coming up with the right words to say in most situations and I couldn’t have expressed it any better. I’m missing our fun FaceTime calls and teaching her how to use her iPad. If it wasn’t for this lady I would have never passed 5th grade math. A former private school owner and long time teacher, she has positively touched thousands upon thousands of lives. I always told people my grandmother was my favorite person and she always will be. I’m missing this woman so much but I know she’s in a better place, not hurting anymore and at Grandpa’s side. Love you so much Grandma and it’s not goodbye but I’ll see you soon!!
