Roland M. Young

Roland M. Young, 76, of Lutz, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022. Roland was born on April 7, 1946, in Altavas Aklan, Philippines, the second of seven children of the late Ramon and Justicia (Morales) Young. Roland enjoyed life to the fullest. A survivor of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), he viewed the remainder of his years as his “bonus life.” He enjoyed being with people and giving back to the community. He spent his retirement as an active member and leader of Kiwanis International - Florida District, and the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. He loved to travel, spending time in New York with his grandchildren, and visiting friends and family across the globe. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Maria Elena Young; and daughters: Vivian Young, her husband Mark Rasimas and children Lucas and Sophia; and Nicole Young, her husband Steve and children Jack and Emily. He will be missed by his siblings: Robert, James, Nanette, Renato, Jessie, Joseph and their extended families. A memorial mass is to be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service is to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family invites everyone to join them following the interment in Magnolia Hall at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kiwanis International Florida District, Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
