September 17, 1925 - February 23, 2021
Mildred “Millie” Coppola, 95, passed away peacefully at home in Trinity, Florida on February 23, 2021 surrounded by her husband of 70 years and her daughter. Millie was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania and worked as an executive secretary of the general superintendent at US Steel in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania for many years. She became a full-time mother and homemaker when her daughter was born. Millie was formally trained in opera and in her youth, sang in operettas and in church. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. Millie, her husband, and her mother moved from the Pittsburgh area to retire in Clearwater and then Trinity, Florida. They enjoyed the Florida lifestyle together, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. They also loved to travel, including visits with family in San Francisco, United Kingdom and Europe. They also sailed on more than 40 cruise ship vacations. Millie will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Frank, her adoring daughter, Amy, a son-in-law, two grandchildren, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Our beloved Millie and Mom will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, her talent as an amateur painter and seamstress, her command of written communication and penmanship, her gentle sense of humor, her intelligence, her love of gardening and of reading, her enthusiasm for learning throughout her life, her exquisite beauty, her youthful and forward thinking including being an early adopter of digital technology, her perfectionism and sense of style, her philosophy of always putting others before herself, and most of all, her endless capacity to love and to care for her family. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to: Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation https://www.alzinfo.org/ A service to celebrate her life will take place later this year.
