February 27, 1926 - February 24, 2022
On February 24, 2022, days short of her 96th birthday, Frances Francum Moore died in Tampa, Florida, after a long illness. Frances is survived by her daughter, Lois Price; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Moore Mann and husband Rick; grandchildren Todd Price (Meredith), Ben Price (Kristen), Greg Price (Karen), Christine Thoms-Knox (Michael), Tyler Price (Jennette), and Brian Moore (fiancée Molly Fitzpatrick); great-grandchildren Drew and Carly Price, Madison and Caden Thoms and Frankie Knox, Kate and Clare Price, and Michael and William Price; sisters Dorothy Raniszewski and Gloria O’Shea; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Vaughn Moore, Sr.; son Leonard Vaughn Moore, Jr.; son-in-law Michael J. Price; parents Bynum Francum and May Francum Rhile; sister Stella Francum Rossell; and brothers Joseph and Donald Rhile. A 62-year resident of Delaware, Frances was born in Wilmington on February 27, 1926, and graduated from William Penn High School in New Castle in 1944. After their marriage on June 17, 1946, Frances and Vaughn built a home in New Castle, in a small neighborhood that included Vaughn’s parents, sister, and brothers. It was there that they raised daughter Lois (1950) and son Leonard (1954). With her ever-present smile, Frances welcomed family and friends into a warm home, satiating them with home-cooking and love. After a decades-long career at the DuPont Company, Frances retired and moved with Vaughn in 1988 to Sun City Center, Florida, where they lived until Vaughn’s death in 2015. Active members of the Sun City United Methodist Church, Frances and Vaughn enjoyed spending time with family, attending grandchildren’s events, entertaining new friends, riding bikes, taking road trips, and going on cruises. They thrived as grandparents and great-grandparents! Moving to Aston Gardens, Tampa, in 2016, Frances remained an avid reader, an amazing cook, and a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. In October, 2021, she transferred to The Inn at Aston Gardens, where the compassionate staff cared for her, assisted by members of the Garnet Team of LifePath Hospice. The staff of Melech Hospice House lovingly kept Frances comfortable in her last days. A private graveside service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Trinity, Florida. A virtual memorial service will be held on March 12 at 2 PM EST.
