February 9, 1937 - February 24, 2022
Aurora García-Barcón, 85 years old passed away February 24, 2022. Aurora was born February 9,1937, in Havana, Cuba. The youngest child of Manuel Garcia and Amalia Alonso-Garcia, “Aurorita” fulfilled many roles in her lifetime, most notable as a lovely caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. At a young age she enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball alongside completing school work. In 1956 Aurora graduated from the Instituto Edison of Habana Cuba and pursued collegiate studies at the Universidad de La Habana. Aurora married high school sweetheart Angel Adolfo Barcón in Havana Cuba at Santuario Nacional de San Antonio de Padua in 1959. Together, they left Cuba in 1962 on their quest for freedom. Life, work, family, and the grace of God took them both on memorable adventures in New York and Puerto Rico. The two eventually settled in Florida for retirement. Along her great journey, Aurora was blessed with the love of her family and of friendships that lasted a lifetime. Aurora acquired a nack for cooking, preparing delicious Spanish dishes as well as Caribbean confections. Those who tasted the Caldo Gallego, Croquetas, Pimientos Rellenos, Arroz Con Pollo, and Natilla can attest. Aurora enjoyed dance and music, “¡ Azúcar !” She loved nature, lounging in the warm beaches of the tropics, admiring butterflies for their transformation and beauty, caring for plants and seeing them flower among her favorites the Queen of the Night and the orchids, and watching birds for their grace and song. The family’s pets were very special to her heart, such as the famous: Lilly, King, Rosie, Ginger, and Diplo. She radiated great joy taking them into her home and caring for them. Aurora is lovingly survived and remembered by her husband, Angel; her brother, Francisco García; her two sons, Eric Manuel & wife Irma Noris and Alex Jose & wife Raquel Marie; as well as her three grand children, Natalie Cristina, Alex Manuel, and Marcelo Alejandro. The family extends their deepest appreciation to everyone that supported and helped Aurora and family during her difficult battle with cancer. Mass service will begin at 10:15am on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd., Tampa, FL 33647.
