Archie Nagel

Archie Elmer Nagel. Born August 8, 1931 in Ellwood City, PA. He was the youngest of six children born to Archie and Ruth Nagel. Archie worked for 17 years for the Riverside School District in the custodial department at the Locust Grove Elementary and Riverside High School campuses while simultaneously, driving a school bus for them. In 1979, he accepted employment at the B&W Steel Mill but within 3 years, heavy layoffs forced him to seek employment elsewhere due to the domestic steel industry recession. He worked various short term jobs until 1987 when he accepted a position at Citrus Park Christian School in Tampa, Florida, as the janitor/grounds person where he worked till he retired at age 75. 1955 - married Norma Jean Brown. They had three children - Dan (deceased) & wife Darleen, Sylvia Joye & husband Bob, David & wife Tammie. They have 8 grandchildren (Elisia, Elizabeth, David, Elizabeth Joye, Rebekah, Rachel, Autumn Joye, and Clayton. There are 10 great grandchildren (Alexia, Maddox, Hailey, Asia Joye, Aubriana, Maya, Gabriela, Jonas, Eli, Paislee Kate) 1987 - “retired” to Florida and got a job as custodian at Citrus Park Christian School. 2003 - Norma Jean passed away. 2004 - Married Frances Dreyer, a long time family friend and former teacher at Citrus Park Christian School. Frances’ children are Anna and Tim with grandchildren - Alyssa, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Jacob. Memories: Even though Archie only had an 8th grade education, later in his life he graduated with an Associate Arts Degree in Bible from Liberty Home Bible Institute. His life was wrapped around the church. He was the Sunday School Superintendent at Park Gate Baptist Church for many years. He taught Sunday School as well as ministered by playing his guitar and singing. Even in his final years, he continued to minister with Frances to his fellow residents at The Estates.
